ABOUT ME
Hi! I provide specialist tutoring services in Maths and English to children up to and including Year 9 in South London.
My focus is to enable my students to succeed in the 11+ and Common Entrance examinations. In addition, I assist those students who are simply in need of a little extra help.
Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), my tutoring approach is extremely meticulous.
Whilst being thorough, I make concepts easy to grasp for children. This enables me to deliver exceptional results whilst making learning highly engaging and most importantly, rewarding for the student.
On par with academic success, I believe developing a student's self-confidence and an inner passion for Maths and English are equally critical components towards establishing a robust foundation for future success in life. This is why I seek to encourage my students at every opportunity and ensure lessons are enjoyable and sustain interest at the same time.
My ability to tutor, nurture and encourage, in my opinion, empowers students to personally flourish. My younger son, for example, who I personally tutored, gained admission to Sutton Grammar School.

To get the best out of group lessons, students should be of similar academic abilities.

* In the event that travelling requires a mileage of four miles or more (return trip), the tutoring fee is charged at £52 per hour. Additionally, only upon mutual consent, a disbursement may be requested for car parking charges.
My professional fees are extremely competitive due to the following reasons:
i) There are zero tutor agency fees to pay. In contrast, tutoring agency fees incorporate an additional service charge on each hour of tutoring. Additionally, with tutoring agencies, there are pupil registration fees and/or tutor placement fees payable (each time a tutor is allocated to your child).
ii) Unlike my professional fees, tutoring agencies are required to charge VAT on any fees payable (self-employed tutors are exempt from VAT).
For eligible families who fulfil a means-tested criteria, given availability, I would be willing to consider providing tutoring lessons to your academically gifted child WITHOUT CHARGE. As a trustee for a non-profit charitable trust, I am passionate about contributing to my local community as well as making a difference in people's lives.

I fully understand the rigorous requirements of the 11+ and Common Entrance Examinations. With the blocks of knowledge and critical skills to acquire, the exams can be extremely demanding, even for the best of students. That is why I believe the secret of succeeding is "preparation, preparation, preparation".
Lessons are exclusively tailored to meet your child's individual needs. I also ensure that lessons are highly engaging, enjoyable and rewarding to sustain your child's long term interest.
By the end of the run-up to the exams, with my tutoring assistance, I would expect your child to:
Demonstrate excellent problem-solving capabilities in Maths attained from a high level of subject familiarisation and constructive feedback.
In English reading comprehension, strong interpretational and inferencing skills acquired from sustained question practice.
In English creative writing, to demonstrate a maturity and fluidity in the writing, from both a grammatical as well as creative content standpoint.
I am confident that so long as your child possesses a willingness to learn, I will provide the full support in respect of the knowledge, techniques and program to succeed.
